Richard Macalister


Richard set up Kiwi Yachting Consultants in 1988 after being one of New Zealand's first professional racing yachtsmen. Richard sailed with Sir Peter Blake aboard Ceramco New Zealand in the 1981-2 Whitbread Round the World Race and followed that sailing with Geoff Stagg of Farr International in many of the great regattas and races around the globe winning the One Ton Cup, Southern Cross Cup, Kenwood Cup and the classic Sydney-Hobart. In addition was a long period crewing with Ed Baird on the International Match Racing Circuit. Having graduated from Victoria University in 1980 with a B Sc(Hons) Richard has set up a company around a sport that he loves. In recent times Richard has been the Commodore of the Royal Akarana Yacht Club helping assist with the development of the Sailing Academy and the introduction of the Platu Fleet in Auckland. Richard has a long history of cruising aboard the family yacht Nirvana whilst also owning and cruising three Elliott Tourers Collioure, Jackpot and currently the 1650 Celadon.

Dean Barker  

Dean Barker


Dean bought into Kiwi Yachting Consultants in 2008. Whilst still contracted to Team New Zealand, he provides valuable support and leadership to the staff of KYC. His yachting CV is too long to list however as skipper of Emirates Team New Zealand is the current holder of the Louis Vuitton Cup and the TP52 MedCup.

Russell Carter

Sales Manager

Russell joined the team in 1988, the year KYC was founded, as our Sales Manager, a role vital to building and retaining effective relationships with current and potential customers alike. Russell's focus is predominately on creating and maintaining sales into the OEM market. He has a background in sales and marketing, with qualifications in marketing from Victoria University, and over 20 years experience in the marine industry. Having spent time training at the Lewmar head quarters in Hampshire, England, Russell has built up a strong knowledge base on our brands as well as the marine industry in general.

Isabel Macalister


Isabel joined the team in 1996 and she is now responsible for overseeing the sales and marketing functions within the company. She has completed a Bachelor of Agricultural Science degree from Massey University majoring in marketing. Her work experience prior to starting with Kiwi Yachting Consultants was in the pharmaceutical industry in the sales management area.

Marina Arnold

Sales & Marketing

Marina joined our team in 1999, originally as the Office Manager and after a short break overseas has rejoined us in the areas of sales & marketing. She is responsible for some key accounts and all our retail customers and working with them to make sure our product is well represented. Marina has a Diploma in Office administration and gained experience working as personal assistant to a company director for seven years and then owning and running her own business in NZ, followed by a four year period working and living in Switzerland.

Blair Gerrard

Service Manager

Blair joined the team in 1998 as our Service Manager, servicing all product groups. Blair completed a degree in boat building from Unitec in Auckland in 1998. He has an extensive knowledge base on Lewmar, Whitlock Steering, and Navtec Hydraulics, and has spent time training at Lewmar head quarters in Hampshire, England. Blair is also responsible for the sales and servicing of all products.

Jessica Judd


Jessica joined the team in 2012 after emigrating from the UK. She was previously employed in Tertiary Education financial management for 8 years and was also the account and finance manager for an import/export/retail business. She has a BA (Hons) in Art and Drama as well as her accountancy qualifications.

Odion Alofokhai

Warehouse Manager

Odion joined the team in March 2006. He completed his University Education in Nigeria and he has previously worked in a Bank as an archive Supervisor. He is now in charge of dispatches, inward goods, stock control and the general smooth running of our warehouse.

 Peter Woolf  

Peter Woolf

Electronics Sales and Service

Woolfy joined in November 2004. Although having gained a BEd (Hons) Woolfy elected to go sailing instead, working in Chandleries (specialising in Marine Electronics) and high tech Boatbuilding Yards between regattas. Woolfy was a Director and part Owner of a large Marine Electronics Business in UK, selling, installing, commissioning and servicing the full range of equipment from all the major manufacturers including Nexus and has completed training courses run by many suppliers. Woolfy worked with B & G as UK and Southern Hemisphere Sales Engineer/ Manager, before coming to New Zealand on holiday for a few weeks but never left.

Tristan Campbell 

Marketing Manager

Tristan joined in March 2011 to assist in the sales and marketing of the Nexus Marine and Pure Fuel Technology range of products.

Tristan has had extensive experience in both sales and marketing, having spent the previous four years before joining us in a similar role importing and wholesaling scuba-diving equipment  

He has a BA (Hons) from the University of Canterbury and marketing papers at Auckland University of Technology. With an extensive list of achievements in dinghy sailing including 1st National Starling Championships and Tanner Cup P Class representation, he also knows his bow from his stern.

Shon Jonny


Shon came to Kiwi Yachting with the aquistion of AutoAnchor in 2012. As an engineer, he has had a privotal role in refining manufacturing processes and was responsible for developing the hardware use in our latest AA570 and AA601 projects.

Shon has a MAEngs from AUT and a BTech in Electronics from Anna University in India.

Luke Heslewood


Luke joined Kiwi Yachting in 2013. He is a certified Boat Builder, graduating from Unitec in 2013. He is already proving a very capable hand in LEWMAR service and the fit out of Southern Pacific Inflatable boats. Luke owns a Farr 3.7 and sails competively out of Manly Sailing Club. You'll also see him regularly on Auckland's keelboat circuit.

Stephy Jonnny


Stephy joined KYC in June 2014. She has a Masters Degree in Mathematics from Carmel College, Kerela, India.

Stephy is responsible for the assembly, programming and testing of the Auto Anchor product. Stephy loves to garden in her free time.


Lesley Reihana


Lesley joined the team in July 2001 as our Office Manager, a role vital to the efficient running of the company. She has vast experience in office administration and accounting, predominantly in the security industry. She now works for Kiwi Yachting two days a week.
